INROADS Alumna competes in CBS's "Amazing Race"
October 17, 2006

INROADS Alumna A. Lyn Turk (formerly Curtis), and teammate Karlyn, are competing on CBS's "Amazing Race" Reality Show this season. Referring to themselves as the "Black Debutantes" of the Race, this Alabama duo intends to compete with style, class and dignity. So far, they are keeping up with the competition. In the October 15th broadcast, while in India, they made a strategic decision to switch tasks from Wild Rice (creating an intricate design with colored rice powder) to Wild Things (restraining and strapping a crocodile to a metal pallet and carrying it on from one pit to another - with help from local handlers). The latter task, less time consuming yet more challenging, gained them fifth place.
A 1997 INROADS Alumna from the Birmingham market, Lyn is a High School Math Teacher and mother of three children. She graduated from Tennessee State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She interned with BE&K and accepted positions in their Engineering and Human Resource departments. She loves to travel, read, and meet new people

"The friends are excited about traveling abroad for the first time together, and believe that their resourcefulness and ability to improvise will make them the Team to beat." You can watch Lyn and Karlyn compete on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS or track their progress at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race10/bios/lyn_karlyn.shtml
